My Experience as a Life Coach

Here’s the thing:   you don’t need to have a pristine life to be a coach . Coaching is about inquiry, asking the right questions, listening, empathy, and empowering someone to become their best self. I know many talented coaches whose life doesn’t look that great on social media — some of these coaches aren’t even on social media at all! They make a living because their clients recommend their services. They are talented coaches because they know how to coach, not because their life is perfect or they know how to run an auto drip campaign on MailChimp. I don’t do much 1-on-1 coaching, because personally, given my background and the counseling in ministerial training, I think I can provide more value writing, speaking, and doing workshops, but when someone approaches me about hiring me as their career coach, I ask them why they want to work with me. If they say anything close to “your life is awesome, I want your life,” I don’t respond to their email. Don’t get me wrong, my...

Empowered, enriched, and confidence

See, when I was in $40000 level of debt, I felt like there was no way out... I had my back against the wall and a so-called gun to my head.  Here are the three things: 1). Invest in Knowledge:  The only reason that I've been able to do what I do is that I invest greatly in knowledge. Here's the funny thing about knowledge... the bank can't take it from you, it can also be applied in a multitude of businesses.  And remember the Return On Income on knowledge. You may know something and not use it for years... yet that ONE time you need it, may make you a million bucks or even save your life.  2). Invest in Assets:  I remember when I was 39, a billionaire that I was fortunate enough to know told me this... I didn't truly understand what it meant at the time (and it was nothing about real estate), however, it's about OWNING what you build.  It's an investment that will always pay off.  3). Invest in Mentors:  There are 3 or 4 p...

The 5 Mindsets of Successful People

Over the past couple of years I've had the opportunity to work with many different people. The question that is often talked about is what makes the difference between the people who "get what they want" and everyone else? It all comes down to mindset and perspective. Here are five perspectives that these people have in common. 1. Successful people have a purpose. When you look at great achievements and the people who worked on them, there is a common theme. Every great achievement came from the person having a purpose. This purpose was greater than just themselves or their personal gain. Of course achievers understand that they themselves will benefit from the achievement but this ego driven desire is not enough. Successful people do what they do because of a need to see these achievements come to the world and impact us all. 2.Successful people use their time to its fullest. Using all your...

Ask for what you WANT and Get it.

One of life’s fundamental truths states: Ask and you shall receive. Isn’t that simple? Of course it is. The world responds to those who ask. Most people in this world, however, find themselves in settled lives, never really achieving or receiving what they hold in their dreams … because they just never ask. The truth is, when you take control of your life by asking for what you want and need, you can accomplish anything your heart desires. No doubt, you know of people who seem to walk into any situation and any relationship expecting success. They achieve success again and again because they’ve learned and acted on one simple truth:  You will reach your goals only with the  help of others. Here are seven ways to ensure that your asking gets results. 1. Ask with confidence. If you ask with confidence, you will get more than those who are hesitant and uncertain. A confident state of mind will affect everything else: your body posture, eye contact, tone...

Stop Being A Prisoner in Your Own Body

Image
As human beings we are constantly comparing ourselves to others. To any men reading this article, this is not just a “female thing”. Men do it too, you compare cars; golf clubs; boats; positions/titles in companies; bodies in the gym……. come on, be honest.  You do! Ladies, I know that you will understand what I am taking about. If you are completely honest, you will admit that we compare ourselves with each other all- the- time :- our clothes, our hair, our kid’s behavior, kid’s school marks, who looks thinner, who is fitter, who appears more successful; who entertains the best, who cooks the best etc… WE ALL DO IT. We compare ourselves with others and then when we don’t measure up to our perceived standards we get disappointed in ourselves. We tell ourselves we are not good enough, we tell ourselves we have failed in some way. The thing is, if we do this long enough we end up feeling like a failure in many areas of our lives. When we constantly put ourselves down and desi...

How to Trust Yourself So that you CAN be limitless

Image
At a young age, I lost trust in others because the person I trusted most coming into the world had broken it. While they tried their hardest to create an environment of love and mask the  fear , I lost trust in my adult family mentors ability to protect me.  While I have a great relationship with them now, you can see how I didn’t trust anyone in my early adulthood.  I felt like a lone wolf and as an entrepreneur this can translate to a driving force. And in the beginning of my career, I gained success... to a certain point.  I started learning that I needed to let my guard down. In relationships of business... and love. Learning to trust was the hardest thing I ever did. Through self inquiry and finding healing from my inner child, I shed the layers of distrust. And when I cracked that door open, it was less scary than I thought. In some ways it felt refreshing being more open. I even trusted myself more. I didn’t doubt my decisions ...
